TPC Missions Ministry Team exists to glorify God through exalting, communicating and modeling the freedom of the gospel not only in but also beyond the bounds of our local community. We are to be witnesses in Norfolk, Virginia and America, and to the ends of the earth (see Acts 1:8) In so doing, we seek to fulfill The Great Commission, as stated in Matthew 28: 19-20.
The Missions Ministry Team educates, challenges and mobilizes gospel-centered people from all walks of life to spread, both nationally and internationally, the freedom of the gospel found only through the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ. We are committed to:
1. Helping those within TPC understand the gospel basis of missions, the centrality of the work of missions in the work of the Church, and the compelling love of Christ, which frees us to joyful and sacrificial service. (see 2 Cor. 5:14)
2. Taking the gospel to unreached peoples through partnering with missionaries and organizations that share our vision and values. Through our prayer, encouragement and financial support, these partnerships will enable TPC to better understand and to serve the Church.
3. Encouraging people from TPC to use their wide range of gifts to serve on short-term mission assignments overseas in cooperation with local missionaries and churches, as well as to minister among internationals in our local area.
4. Helping to identify and to encourage those within TPC who are being called to full-time overseas missionary work, and providing resources for them to pursue that calling.
5. Reaching communities locally and throughout the United States with gospel-centered teaching and discipling by supporting the church-planting efforts of the PCA and related organizations that share our values and vision.
